  3. my interviewer was mr. williamson. he's very accommodating, always with a smile. my questions were easy as 1-2-3 hehehe kay napractisan man TNX TSAA!!..anyway, he asked me about friend/s(part 2)..why is a friend important, describe your friend, traits of your friend, why you liked her. I answered candidly kay as what i've said, nagpractice. lol
he stopped me in the middle of my monologue. is it ok sir rob? xempre medjo nagpanic ako kay baka i was out of the topic kaya he stopped me.
After the 2nd part, he continued asking me, and he asked if it's easy for me to make friends, what do i do to win them, is giving things to a friend still important now? change topic napud.. and now its about my hometown, like, where is your hometown, how long have you been staying in your hometown. But the biggest blunder that I made was when he asked me if I know the history of my hometown! As always, nagpanic napud ko..I made up stories pero I don't think my answer was right. :'(

anyway, we ended our conversation with both of us smiling...

But sir rob, i think the reading part was difficult..nahugno jud ko sir..grabe ka taas sa mga passage...but i hope i still made it.

I found the listening test medyo easy as well as the writing test. Pero grabe makapanic kung actual test na d i..pero with your help sir rob, i think i made it..

tnx again for the help! more power to your company!!!

  4. What was the most traumatic event you've experienced?

Answer: When I took the IELTS exam sir! Taamaaaaa!!!!

    Hay Naku!

Just finished the speaking test...it was fun! Stewart Williamson was my interviewer. He was very friendly and accommodating pero kulba lang gihapon. Ako mga question kay nag sige lang og hometown...Paita! kahibalo palang ko nga mangutana diay xa sa history samong hometown nag research ta ko.hehehe...tapos nag ask pud xa about dancing, if i like dancing ba daw or why daw mahilig mag dance ang youth (nagkamamu napud. He also asked me about sea...if i like sea, how many hours would i stay sa sea, what are the things that people enjoy about sea. If i would like to live near the sea...Puro nalang sea! si sea na walang malay, si sea na walang kasalanan! Honestly speaking, I hate sea!!!! Init kaayo, parat na, lagkit pa! daghan pa jud balas! Pero xempre ang answer: Oh! I love the sea...In fact I would love to build a house near the sea! Echus! Perting pamakak ui...may lang untag dili sa akong score mo reflect ang gaba!hehehehe

    Part two: About Environment! Tiurok!

The question was talk about something that you did about helping the environment. What was it? when? explain how you do it. Nag kamamu jud ko sir...as in!!!! Ambot lang adto...

Part three: Diri na jud ko nisamot og ka tiurok!

Iya question puros about environment (of course!). Tapos relate dayon nya sa situation diri sa philippines, sa hometown, og daghan pa nga na erase nalang og pinakalit sakong hunahuna tungod sa trauma..heheh!

Tapos after sa test, iya na gi off ang recorder. Chika to the max dayon..murag mas dugay pa ang among chika2x kesa sa interview proper.

Overall, he was terrific! I was terrible! Still, fingers crossed...hoping for the best!

Sir, ayaw nalang katingala og magpa enroll ko usab ha...lisud jud ang exam...nagkamamu ko sa listening, reading, writing og speaking!

  6. PART 2:

now, here was when the interview got more serious....

    4. Talk about what you can personally do to help the environment? Where did you first learn about this? How can you do this at home?

    - So I talked about RECYCLING and SEGREGATION
    - I told him that I learned about it through TV, Newspapers, Magazine articles that I've read and even through the Government. I also continued to tell him that in Davao City, the Government implements segregation as it provides color-coded trash cans in every subdivision or village...
    - I told him that I could do this at home simply by separating the types of trash.. grouping the plastics, paper.. non-biodegradable and biodegradable in their respective trash bins..

    5. FF-UP: Why is recycling important?

    - I got lost in explaining for a bit because I rambled on the importance of space in the earth and how much trash has been accumulating and i noticed his facial expression got a bit confused... I then transitioned into the importance of reusing these trash because we're running out of materials to produce such things as paper, cups, plates.. then he smiled after i was able to say that last statement

    6. Each and everyone of us is responsible for climate change. Do you agree or disagree?
-"I agree with that statement. I think each and every one of us has contributed to pollution and endangering the earth... etc..etc.."

    7. He gave me a situation: "Let's talk about the Philippines. What can people in the PROVINCES do to help the environment. We know that going green is certainly a lifestyle change, so how can we make this possible for people in provinces and poorer communities?" (I think he was challenging me at this point... ??? )
    - I told him that it certainly won't be an easy task to implement such habits to be more environmentally friendly. And I even gave the example why it is a difficult task -in the Philippines, we obviously can't force everyone to buy hybrid cars because most of us, simply can't afford it. (He nodded and said a loud YES to this statement)
    - So I explained that the Government has the responsibility to educate people in Provinces with regards to their natural resources. I gave the province of Bukidnon as an example on how illegal logging was rampant there for many years in the past, and this happened, because the people weren't educated on the importance of trees to the environment. I said that if people were educated then they could fight for their natural resources more and demand protection against big companies that destroy these said resources...

    ........... interview over... =)

  8. PART 1:

    Hi Everyone!

I was interviewed tonight by Mr. Stuart Williamson. He was very nice and accommodating. He wasn't at all intimidating, but still, I guess it was the whole "feel" of being tested that made the whole thing so scary. Anyway, here was how it went (but take note that nothing is verbatim. I'm just typing whatever I can still recall)...

    (Stuart starts to record)
Stuart: Hello... My name is Stuart Williamson and this is an official IELTS Speaking test.. blahh blahh...
Stuart: May you please tell me your name?
    Me: My name is...

    1. So tell me about your hometown's history? Where are you from by the way?

---I started out by telling Stuart that Davao's name came from the word, "Daba Daba." But then, I laughed a little and told him that it was unfortunate that I couldn't remember what that meant. So I continued by telling him how the Davao City that we know today has become the city that it is from the migration of many tribes from all over the country. "Davao City now is a melting pot of cultures... that is why some people from other parts of the Phils may even wonder why the language/local dialect we have here is a mixture of Visayan, Tagalog and even Ilonggo" (I think that's how I phrased it)...

    2. Tell me something that makes Davao City special or why Davao is an ideal place to stay (this isn't verbatim, but I think this was the thought of his question)... or wait.. I think he asked me about the LOCAL GOVERNMENT.. on how things are being run?...

-I talked about Davao being one of the safest places right now.. and that it received an award as the one of the safest places in southeast asia even... (i think when I was explaining, I got a bit lost and I repeated a few phrases... yikes!)

    ........... interview over... =)

Anyway, after the interview, Mr. Williamson still wanted to talk a bit more about the environment. He asked me whether I've seen Al Gore's documentary and we talked a bit more about some of our opinions, with regard to climate change. He also asked me a few personal questions.

So that was how my interview went. All I can really say is.... *SIIIIIIGHHHHH.... I'm really not sure how I did. I honestly feel like I had a lot of pauses and that there were a few times where I went around my point. But Mr. Williamson was a very gracious interviewer. He always smiled and he was very interactive.

HINT: Check out his facial expressions for clues whether you're going off topic... he usually gives a grimace when this happens.. and he reacts with positive remarks and huge smiles when he likes whatever you're saying. =) I think he likes being intellectually challenged.. so be careful... hehehehe..

So that's it for my experience... GOD SPEED Everyone!!!!

  12. Good morning.

My interview with mr Williamson went well yesterday. He is very nice, accommodating and soft spoken. Reacts like nodding and smiling if he agrees with the answer given and sometimes frown if he thinks otherwise then makes a follow-up question.

Here are some questions that I can remember:
    1st part:

For the record, can you state your name??
Describe your hometown where you live?
Can you tell me the history of your hometown?
Where did you learn English? How often do you speak it?
How many languages do you speak?
Which do u prefer, watching movie in cinema or at home? What kind of movies does u like??

    2nd part:
Name a successful person that you know.
    WHO?
    What did he/she does?
    Why he/she is successful?
Ff-up question: How do you count success?

    3rd part:
Do you agree or disagree. Having a success in a field of work/ profession, someone does not have a personal success (family) at the same time.
(wla ko kpanukad ani na question..)

We shake hands and I leave the room. I get my cp from the facilitator and I went to the lounge area. After few minutes, the facilitator told me to leave the area because I might talk to the examinee and it’s a form of cheating. Kalimot pud ko. Pagka na lang jud!

Yes, sir Robert is right that Mr Williamson likes to interview woman. While waiting, I heard him saying to the facilator “I thought im going to interview a woman. Please let him (me) in”….

    Good luck. Aja!

  14. Jaym:

The 3rd question you posted was also the very question I had during my actual test. I talked about San Pedro Church, it being one of the strongest Catholic influences in Mindanao.

To the incoming interviewees, talk about any historical places that have helped you learn something (in my case, specific details about how Christ lived and died here on Earth based on the graphic works of art found on the walls of San Pedro Church).

Good luck to all of you!
